- Authorized peaceful gathering!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A permit should be required to conduct a peaceful gathering, procession, parade or race within the limits of a city.

- why aren't there counter-protests during the church's services? I would think a crowd of screaming protesters during communion would get their attention.

- As a former reporter, and a defender of free speech, I have been very conflicted on this issue. But I appreciate your words here, and I believe you to be right. But I would caution all to be very careful what limitations they put on freedom of speech. Thank you for this article.

- To add a comment.....If you know or knew one who understood the US Constitution better than Sam Ervin. Let us know....we need one to look to who does. Many alive today do not even know who Sam Ervin was. Or Charles Raper Jonas. Charles Raper Jonas Papers, 1806; 1918-1984..who voted the Judeo-Christian lifestyle... Research them... - I agree that church should not protest a slain soldier....because of gay and lesbians. However, If that church and others were not shown the arrogance and the in the streets ...in the face...demonstrations...and the trend to feature gays and lesbians..one TV shows.. what keeps them for using that as a cause? We have too many divisive groups and unions... The Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce... who is funding them...to promote that which is just as wrong.... even if they have a right. Wrong... Right.... If my religion and the Holy Bible present this as an abomination.... We need to know where all the funding for unions, groups, special agendas, politicians....etc....is coming from. Why not make all government, unions, politicians, special agenda groups...especially the "non-profit" Organizations....publish the sources and the names of the "givers". That would let the public know just who is supporting..paying these ones...to push their agendas. Should each citizen have their right to be aware of just who their enemies are? That information would inform all....just where the money is coming from.... Smoke and mirrors.... Who wants to SUPPORT an unknown enemy.....or wants to support a friend? Fighting windmills. AND THE NETWORKS WONDER WHY THE RATINGS ARE DROPPING....AND THE OPPOSING CHANNELS ARE HAVING GREAT GROWTH. WE NEED THE OPIONS...WE ALSO NEED THE OTHER VIEWPOINTS EXPRESSED BY THE SAME NETWORK PERSONS....NOT JUST ONE NETWORK PERSON..AND OTHER PEOPLE.... THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE WAS A MISTAKE....TODAY....THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE ..WITH MORE RESTRICTIONS WOULD WIN THE POPULAR VOTE. WE ARE TIRED OF HEARING ONE SIDE.....WHAT ONCE WAS BLACK AND WHITE (NO RACIAL SLUR INTENDED)..IS NOW IN MANY SHADES...COLORS OF THE SPECTRUM IDEAS. It is not as easy as it once was to present all the opinions... THUS...THE DEMONSTRATIONS. Many of us never have been union members. We believe in being hired for you ability and your work style. The Tea Party... Or some party not associated with the usual "funding" for special groups...is on the horizon. All the other attempts have failed....and look at what we individuals are having forced to pay for and accept ...when it is not our freedom of speech... You must have known Sam Ervin. I did..and he said the "equal rights" would lead us to socialism and privileges for some and not for all.

- Bob, I appreciate what you have said. I'm not an American, but a proud Canadian who has been very blessed to have her military son return safely from the war in Afghanistan. I cannot imagine (and pray I never do) the grief of a parent losing their son/daughter while defending their country; my heart goes out to all whether Canadian or American or any other country of our world. For people to protest at a funeral of anyone is disrespectful - those that do that should be ashamed. On this the day before Canadian Thanksgiving, I just want to thank you Bob for your words on this and everyone whether American or Canadian stand up and be heard DEFEND WHAT IS RIGHT!

- Don't people need a permit to protest or have a rally? Who would and why would anyone protest at a grave site? If the news did not give them what they want which is attention to the vile, un-god like words and feelings and left them out of the lime light they would no doubt parish. Interview those that have suffered loss but leave those that protest out of it.
